Amazing Arenas

Amazing Arenas

Reaching the pinnacle of sporting professions, professionals get to play in some of the coolest venues in the world. From massive stadiums like The Big House in Ann Arbor, one of a kind venues like Tottenham Stadium in London which can hold a Premier League match and an NFL game in the same day by having multiple actual fields stacked on top of each other. Others may prefer classics like Wrigley Field or Fenway Park, which date back over a century in time since their original opening. Many prefer a stadium or arena based on their own nostalgia. Many flocked to the Joe Lewis Arena with memories of 24 straight years of playoff eligible success and multiple Stanley Cup runs, but no one was raving about it being the nicest in the world.

Now Detroit may be home to one of the nicest arenas in the NHL and NBA. Little Caesars Arena is a major upgrade to the classic “Joe”, but it is always tough to leave so many great memories behind. The Ilitch family have made a huge push to bring greatness backed to the Winged Wheel and make Detroit “Hockeytown” once again. Although our ‘Wings won’t make the playoffs this year, the investment they have made in the naming rights to the stadium, making the move possible, as well as bringing in a hometown favorite and arguably the best GM in the NHL, Steve Yzerman back to lead the group is very promising.

Who knows, maybe years after competing in an EAS hockey tournament in Michigan, one of the athletes may live out their dream to play at Little Caesars Arena, maybe even as a Redwing. Until then, it will be an amazing time attending NHL, NBA, and other amazing events in the District Detroit as our city becomes a sporting powerhouse again.
