A Hidden Hockey Gem City
A Hidden Gem
We love Michigan here at EAS. Its where we are from, and where we operate our amazing youth hockey tournaments. Everyone know that Detroit is the heartbeat of the state, but we like to bring you to amazing places outside of the big city. Whether it is going up into the Upper Peninsula and seeing the sights in Sault St. Marie, or the exciting college town of Kalamazoo. Michigan is full of hidden gems, but one of our favorites is not too far from our host cities.
Grand Rapids, Michigan may be one of the coolest small cities in the country. Home to many small colleges and large university satellite schools, this diamond in the rough, is home to an abundance of things to do during the day such as their very cool zoo, paddleboarding on the river, and an abundance of golf courses to enjoy some time in the sun. The nightlife is also a great time, with many microbreweries, high end cuisine, concerts, and the Redwings AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids Griffins. It is tough to beat good golf, food, and hockey all packaged into one little city.
The next time you are coming in from out of town to visit us for a boys or girls hockey tournament in Michigan, give yourself a little extra time to explore Grand Rapids. Go for the day, or even spend the night as it is difficult to experience it all in one day. It is only 45 minutes from Kalamazoo so it is even a convenient little trip to kill some time during longer layoffs in between games. We love all our host cities, but we also love Grand Rapids, as it has something for everyone. Head to our website to check out our upcoming and next seasons lineup to see when you can visit us next. See you all very soon!
