Always Learning

Hockey Time.jpg

Most days you leave smarter than when you started. It should always be a goal to learn something new every day. Not only does it keep you mind invigorated, but it helps one move with the times. This obviously applies to the great game of hockey, but what can you learn during a hockey tournament? It really depends on what you want, or maybe even need to get out of it.

Today’s youth is a sponge that strives off instant gratification. What better way to learn from your mistakes than to have another game that day, or maybe 3 more games that weekend to correct some issues that may be haunting the athlete. On the other side, it is a great way for coaches to create teaching habits on the bench and learn about what buttons to press with what players to get the best athlete, and the best team on the ice. Parents can learn a lot as well, maybe being on the road with your child will allow for some extra bonding time that may not happen during a hectic weekend at home.

What can be learned may also coincide with the time of year. If you sign up for our Elite Brigade Veterans Cup, or maybe our Early Bird Tournament, both held at the beginning of the season in September, it can be a great way to learn just what a team has in game situations and be able to construct a plan to engage improvement throughout the season. Playoffs could be around the corner, and to get the players long weekend experience, enrolling in our MidWinter Shootout or K-Wing Cup to dial players mentality in to playing 3 and 4 games over the course of 54 hours may be the best bet.

No matter the youth hockey tournament that your team or athlete has been enrolled in, lets try our best to keep the atmosphere positive, and make sure that every learning experience is what is best for the teams and athletes in the long run.
