The (Hockey) Holiday Season
Now that Thanksgiving, both American and Canadian, are in the rear view mirror and December is upon us, we are going to a changing season. We are not just referring to the impending frigid temperatures, it’s how a team’s season starts to take form to push towards post season goals. Many times, teams find themselves playing in youth hockey tournaments during the holiday’s with the focus of finding one’s identity. One of these crazy weekends can really catapult confidence, or the need to go back to the drawing board. A tournament is a micro season all in 48 hours. There is a start, grind, final push, playoffs, and championship wrapped up into what is now known as “Bubble Hockey”.
Winter break also allows a bit more time together. Long time hockey families understand that the holiday season is a great time for having extra team get togethers to help bring the kids closer as teammates. Teams that love to be together always do well and make the long journey of a hockey season much more enjoyable. We must also remember that the holiday season is tougher on some, so bringing happiness in a time that is needed also helps team morale.
It’s universally understood that this is the time of the year for making an effort to bring cheer to those around you. We here at Elite Amateur Sports want to wish everyone a safe holiday season. Enjoy this wonderful time of the year, and we will see you at the Mid-Winter Shootout.
