Reflect then Look Forward to the 2022 Hockey Fights Cancer Tournament

How crazy is it. Doesn’t it seem like tryouts were just yesterday. Its March people. Most teams are wrapping up any post season play they may be having and people are looking towards Spring Break. Maybe your season saw lots of trophies, maybe you were just limited to lots of laughs. Either way, a successful season is how you define it.

If you are reading this, there is a 99% chance that winning is not how you should evaluate how a season went. You may be asking, how else can one define a successful season, and we are here to help you with that. Success may not be apparent immediately after the last buzzer has rung. Your child may have made some lifelong friends, maybe even best friends. That is success. Maybe a coach made an impact on a player who was struggling with their personal or athletic identity in a positive way. That is success. Maybe a player or two saw some outside struggles creep into their life, and a group of kids came together for a better cause. That is success.

Don’t look at win column anymore, reflect on how your son or daughter may have grown as an athlete, or more importantly, as a human and determine if the time and money spent was worth it. Not everyone’s season is perfect but find the best of each situation and think about how that may have affected your family. If it was continuously poor, then maybe it is time for change, but if the worst thing you can think of is not winning the end of season championship, you probably had a great season in disguise.

If your team has had a ton of fun this year and want to keep the band together as long as possible, or you have made some new teammates, take a look at our favorite boys and girls hockey tournament of the year, Hockey Fights Cancer.
